Full or Part Time Small Animal Vet - near Reading

Our clients is a thriving, large practice in the centre of Reading, who are looking for a Full or Part Time Veterinary Surgeon to join their team.

The practice is in a purpose-built building with separate dog and cat waiting rooms through to separate theatres. They have CT, video endoscopy, digital x-ray and good quality Doppler ultrasound machine, slit-lamp biomicroscopy, tonometer and well-stocked in-house Idexx laboratory. The practice is currently installing digital dental x-ray in the dedicated dental suite and upgrading the cat kennels to fit gold standard ISFM. They feel lucky to have separate exotics ward for their smaller friends away from predator species and dedicated ‘farewell’ rooms for euthanasia in a softer setting. They happily develop facilities and equipment to suit the team and their interests.

There are a 8 vet (FTE) team with ECVS specialists in soft tissue and orthopaedics who visit once a week. There is a medicine certificate holder and 2 vets working towards the BSAVA Ophthalmology and Surgery certificates who are keen to share skills and knowledge.
The clinic is a nurse training practice and have a large team of passionate registered veterinary nurses, student veterinary nurses and animal nursing assistants who are always on-site and provide excellent care to inpatients. The dedicated nurses/administrators perform all insurance paperwork and work alongside the friendly reception team.

The position will be working alongside 3-6 vets each day, case discussion and idea sharing is actively encouraged and they actively promote staff completing certificates and CPD in specific interests. client has a flexible approach and can therefore accept both full and part-time applications. Full time would cover 40 hours per week working a combination of shifts 8 am-7 pm, 8:30 am-7 pm, 10 am-7 pm or 8 am-4 pm, over 4 days, with 2:5 Saturday mornings (finishing at 1 pm.) You will have 1:5 Saturdays off giving you a 4 day weekend, with your other days off falling on Monday and Friday. No out of hours – the clinic is a VetsNow host practice so are lucky to be able to keep inpatients on site. You will be a competent vet in day-to-day procedures but who there can be support to develop. Due to the experience in the team the client is open to consider applications from consult only or consult and operating mix.
