Our client is a busy small animal only, multibranch practice in the heart of Lancashire. They are looking for a full time small animal vet to join their team.
The group has 16 branches which are either consulting only or have operating facilities. They have a large Vet team with a mixture of new graduates and experienced clinicians. They actively encourage certificate study and currently have certificate holders in Surgery, Ophthalmology, Internal Medicine and Dermatology. The practice has an in-house CT, ultrasound, ECG, endoscopy and extensive in-house laboratory. All surgical branches have access to Idexx machines.
This is a full time role, initially based at any of the branches on a rota basis, with allocated surgical time at either one of the surgical branches or the main hospital. The working week is 5 days, and the day is generally 09:30-18:00. The OOH's rota is one week night 1 in 12 and weekends are 1 in 4. For the right candidate, who can mentor, the group can offer a second on call rota which is 1 in 4 day time weekend working. If you are on the first call weekend rota you would receive time off in lieu the week before and after.
An interest in consulting and high levels of client care are a must. A good team working ability and good communication skills are essential.

Our client has a great opportunity for an experienced vet to join their friendly 12 Vet team close to Southport in the North West of the UK.
This is a busy group of 3 practices with a large, supportive and experienced team who all work closely together. A number of the Vet team hold additional qualifications including certificates in Medicine and Surgery and as such advanced soft tissue, ophthalmic and orthopaedic procedures are all performed in-house. Advanced ultrasonography is provided by visting specialists.
The practice is well equipped with the usual tools such as a digital X-ray, in house laboratory, blood machines, ECG, ultrasound scanner, endoscope and the team offer 15 mins consults as standard. The role will involve working within this small animal team performing routine consultations, diagnostics and surgical procedures. A busy surgical caseload gives the opportunity to gain experience in more complex surgical procedures if desired.
Due to this excellent support network the team can accommodate full or part time applicants and can offer various shift patterns. The current full time vets tend to work 3x 9 hour days and 1x 6 hour day. They also have part time vets working one or 2 days per week. The rota involves 1 in 4 weekends on duty but with time off in lieu.
Out of Hours is outsourced to Vets Now from 7pm, 7 days a week. A working weekend will involve working a morning of consults on both Saturday and Sunday plus provided cover until 7pm on just one of those weekend days. There is a bonus paid for cases seen between 1pm-7pm on a Saturday or Sunday.
The successful candidate will ideally have previous small animal experience and have a professional approach to providing excellent clinical service at all times. You must possess good communication and interpersonal skills and be self motivated to work independently or as part of a team. You will have the support of your colleagues but the clinical freedom to work up your own cases. Developing areas of special interest are encouraged with a generous CPD allowance.
On offer if a salary of between 40k-60k depending upon experience.
plus a generous benefits package including CPD allowance, RCVS fees, VDS membership, BVA membership and Private Health Care.
Holiday allowance is 33 days per year including Bank Holidays, a day off for your birthday and length of service days (pro rata for part time).
The semi-rural location of this group of practices allows you easy access to the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the Peak District National Park with great rail, road and airport links all within a short distance. Plus the vibrant City of Liverpool is on the doorstep allowing a great day out shopping or sightseeing.
