Full or Part Time Small Animal Theatre Nurse - near Derby

The diagnostics and treatments are second to none and they have many highly trained and experienced colleagues to ensure that patients receive the very best treatment. They are now looking for a Full of Part Tine Theatre Nurse to join them.

They strive to deliver world class patient care and the fantastic facilities provide a superb care environment, including 13 consultation rooms, 7 hospital wards, 5 theatres, full advanced imaging suite, 3 ultrasound rooms, an endoscopy suite, hydrotherapy pool and treadmills and dedicated chemo & radio-iodine treatment rooms define the setting.

This is a group of skilled and passionate nurses, working within the theatre team at Pride Veterinary Centre. They work closely with specialist referral clinicians from a range of disciplines such as surgery, medicine, ophthalmology, exotics and neurology. Day to day, they work especially closely with the anaesthetists, providing anaesthesia and sedation for other services. Despite working within such a big team, they succeed in maintaining a friendly and supportive ethic. They are passionate about providing gold standard of care and as such, all team members receive ongoing support from highly skilled colleagues in both theatre and anaesthesia.

Supporting the theatre team by delivering and monitoring prescribed anaesthesia/sedation for referral patients from the surgical, neurology, ophthalmology and medicine disciplines, you will be an integral team member. They use multi-parameter monitors to monitor patients under anaesthesia, reporting any problems to the specialist anaesthetists. Other than anaesthesia they also take on a circulating theatre nurse role. This involves preparing each theatre for surgery with the correct equipment, preparing the patient and personnel for theatre, maintaining sterility during surgery and assisting with theatre equipment. All theatre nurses are highly skilled due to the in-depth training available.

The working hours for this role are varied and could be between 7.30am and 7pm (with one late working from 9.30am to 7pm). They can offer full-time RVNs a 4 day working week (38hrs) in the interest of providing a healthy work-life balance for the team. They will also consider part-time applications. You will be required to take part in the weekend rota working a 1 in 6 full weekends from 7.45am to 6pm, 2 lieu days would be given the following week in exchange for the weekend work. There is a bank holiday rota in place which means the nursing team are required to work 1 or 2 bank holidays a year. There would also be a requirement to take part in an on-call rota, further information on this would be discussed at interview.
