Experienced small animal vet , friendly independent team

I’m currently helping a small and friendly independent animal practice to find a new enthusiastic small animal vet for their 4 vet team. They are situated in a beautiful location in North within 30 mins of Bangor, close to Holyhead, and a 15 minute walk to the beach.

They provide a great service for the community and work with local charities too, they have modern equipment such as ultrasound with ECG, various scopes, Xray and the capacity to deal with the routine to specialist services such as Chemotherapy and orthopedics, with a certificated member of the team in surgery.

Flexible to look at full and part time positions with no OOH’s and shared weekends Generous CPD and happy to support certificates and further qualifications. Looking for someone who is capable with routine general practice and is enthusiastic and keen to develop

Our client are a 100% small animal veterinary surgery with a loyal client base and extensive equipment, including IDEXX in-house laboratory (catalyst and procyte), digital AGFA CR X-ray, video endoscope and bronchoscope, colour Doppler ultrasound with ECG, tonopen, slit lamp - all of which allow the vets to work up cases fully in-house. The team see a varied workload that ranges from the standard (e.g. vaccinations, microchipping, neutering, dentals, in-house laboratory, X-ray interpretation pet passports, pregnancy diagnosis with ultrasound, hip and elbow scoring, PAT dog assessments), to more specialist services and treatments, such as chemotherapy, echocardiograms, ECG, video endoscope and bronchoscope for non-invasive investigations and advanced surgeries. The principal vet has a particular interest in small animal surgery and orthopaedics (regularly carrying out TTAs) and holds a PGCertSAS, he frequently undertakes advanced soft tissue and orthopaedic procedures and is happy to pass on his knowledge. The Vets are supported by a team of lovely nurses. The team are seeking a 4th Vet for their team, they can consider full or part time applications; full time would be 4 days per week (9am-6.30pm) plus a share in Saturday rota (currently 1 in 4) and a share in the weekend and evening in-patient rota. The emergency out of hours is undertaken by VetsNow, although the team continue to look after in-patients overnight as appropriate. The ideal candidate will be a veterinary surgeon who is comfortable with routine consults and routine neutering and dental surgery. The candidate should have excellent communication skills, should be able to write clear and concise clinical notes, be computer literate and have good time management skills. The individual should be proactive in their learning and keen to develop their knowledge and practical and intellectual skills through CPD. The team consider CPD to be an essential part of a veterinary surgeon's role and have an extensive library of books and journals within a quiet spacious office. Salary range 35k-50k dependent on experience. Located in beautiful Anglesey this practice are based just 5 minutes from the beach and a 45 minute’ drive from the Snowdonia Mountains - which may be particularly interesting to candidates with an interest in water sports, rock climbing, hiking, riding, etc. If this role sounds of interest please email your CV through to [email protected] or give me a call on 01422 433900.
