Experienced Small Animal Vet for 5 Vet Team in Swindon, Wiltshire
This client based just outside Swindon are looking for an experienced vet to join their team on a permanent basis.
The clinical team is made up of 4 Vets (you would be the 5th), 6 RVNs and 1 SVN. All the RVNs and trainee nurses have completed the ‘Fear Free’ training scheme and the whole team have an excellent reputation in the local and wider community of North Wiltshire. The practice thinks that the emotional well being of clients and their animals is just as important as the medical treatment their clients receive. They believe that treating the animals with respect is important and therefore they do not wrestle with animals to give injections, if the patient is nervous or worried they provide other means of lowering anxiety, with either medication or seeing patients outside.
This is a gold certificate cat friendly clinic and the team consider the emotional wellbeing of patients as important as their physical health.
The team have a range of good quality equipment including patient warming systems, infusion pumps, capnography, blood pressure, tonometry, dental x-ray, doppler ultrasound, flexible gastroscope, bronchoscope, rigid endoscopes, laparoscopy, and in-house blood testing. They use peripatetic veterinary referral services to offer ophthalmology and orthopaedic surgery on site. The practice see a large variety of cases, they have excellent support a nearby referral service. The Clinical Director encourages and supports her vets to attempt certain procedures outside their comfort zone, developing their experience on a continual basis whilst feeling fully supported at all times. The practice operate exclusively a lap spay service. They have excellent facilities including Ultrasound, ECG, endoscopy, dental x-ray, otoscopy with edoscopy equipment for in depth and thorough ear treatments. The practice have visiting specialists in orthopaedics and opthmology. The practice is keen to hearing from any candidates who would like to persue their passion and possibly study towards a certificate.
The existing team encourage teamwork and communication. They have morning and afternoon rounds every day to discuss cases as well as monthly clinical and practice meetings. Professional development is encouraged and funded.
The role is full time, working 4 days per week for 40 hours, with 1 in 4 Saturday until 4pm and no out of hours. Clinical experience is desirable but the practice does have experience of supporting and developing new graduates. The ideal candidate will be a Vet with experience in small animal practice, someone with enthusiasm and good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
