Our client is a well-established first opinion practice, with roots in Hertfordshire going back over 100 years. There are now looking for a Full or Part Time Small Animal Registered Veterinary Nurse to join the team.
They are a Training Practice and hold RCVS GP status. You will be joining a busy, well-equipped practice, where every team member aspires to achieve higher standards. The equipment list includes Endoscopy, Laparoscopy, Ultrasound, Digital X-ray, Multi-Modal monitor, ECG, and BP monitoring. They see a large volume of Exotics and Wildlife, supported by one of the Vets and several keen Nurses. Based in Watford surrounded by beautiful countryside, while also having easy access to train stations, with London approximately 35 minutes away.
They currently have 7 FTE Vets, 6 full-time and 2 part-time Registered Veterinary Nurses, and 5 Student Nurses. They are actively increasing the current Nursing Team and have a large support team consisting of Receptionists, Telephonists, VCA's, and Accounts Staff, ensuring our Nurses can focus on their clinical skills.
special interests will be encouraged and supported. They provide services for a local Wildlife Rescue and several of their nurses, along with one of the vets enjoy treating Exotics and Wildlife. The Nurses are well respected and work closely with the Vets and Support Staff, to ensure the best possible care is given. The nursing team is very supportive, and extra training can be given to someone looking to return to nursing, or just beginning their Veterinary Nursing career. The nurses work in Theatre, Pharmacy, Ward, and Nurses Clinics and are encouraged to pursue special interests and CPD. This is a Training Practice and would encourage and support all Nurses to be involved in nurse training.
The hours for this role are 38 per week, between 8:00am and 4:30pm, with one longer shift until 8:00pm per week. Weekends are 1 in 4, they employ night staff to look after their in-patients. The out of hours is mostly covered by VetsNow, but they do provide cover on Saturday and Sunday daytime.

Our client has a busy 24 hour RCVS accredited Small Animal Hospital in Barnet and are looking for a Full Time Vet to join them on a permanent basis.
The practice is based in the heart of Barnet with shops and tube lines going into London. There is a sister branch nearby where you may be required to work on occassions.
The current team of 15 Veterinary Surgeons, 17 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 7 Veterinary Care Assitant's, a Reception Team, and a Practice Manager and see a varied caseload. The practice has fantastic facilities including x-rays, dental x-rays, laparoscopic equipment, hydrotherapy, a full range of endoscopes, and ultrasonography.
The current Vets hold certificates in cardiology, Surgery, and Small Animal Internal Medicine. The nurses also have certificates in Anaesthesia, ECC, and Exotics.
The team are now looking for a full time Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon and your duties will include consulting and operating but this will differ throughout the working week. The rota will involve working 42.5 hours per week over 4 days. The shifts range between 8:30am-7:30pm with weekends being on a rota basis; 1 in 6 Saturday mornings until 1/2pm and 1 in 6 full weekends (Sat anad Sun 8am-6pm).
As part of this role you will also be required to cover 1 week of nights every 8-10 weeks, starting at 6pm and finishing at 8am. A QVN and VCA will be on duty with Vet and they will take the phones, triage inpatients and call the vet on-call if required. Its best to assume the Vet will be in practice from 6pm to 11pm . When everything is under control the vet has the choice of going home or staying in the duty room. This is a 7 day shift of nights and you will be then back on your day routine the day after.
You will be required to work at the main hospital and 1 or 2 of the branches - everyone covers the odd shift at other branches depending on holidays/cover.
Ideally you will be a qualified Veterinary Surgeon who has experience being in sole charge with a Nurse or Veterinary Care Assistant. The candidate must also be experienced working in a hospital environment.
Salary is dependent upon experience plus 28 days holiday (on a 4 day week this amounts to 5 weeks holiday, 6 bank hols and 2 extra to make up for the bank hols you work)

Our client has an excellent opportunity for a confident Veterinary Surgeon to join their team based in North London.
You will be based across two lovely surgeries, one on the edge of a green space, opposite a beautiful apple orchard, with fabulous tea rooms just a minute’s walk away. The second is approx 6 miles south and closer to the urban area of North London. Both surgeries have friendly clients, with a large uptake of insured pets, and both are well equipped with a great local reputation.
The team are looking for someone who has an all-round knowledge of first opinion general practice and who can manage all the normal vet duties including occasional sole charge shifts (however there will always be another vet available at the other branch surgery). An interest in ultrasound especially echocardiography would be an advantage. Good humor and the ability to laugh along with the team on those tougher days is definitely a benefit! and the team would be happy to encourage an applicant who is looking to do a certificate etc.
You will be joining a team of 4 Vets, a Practice Manager, 7 Nurses and 2 Receptionists. This vacancy is due to growth, the team have an amazing track record of staff retention, most have been part of the family for many years. You will find everyone is super supportive, clinically, physically, and emotionally. They see great clients, almost all of whom have come from a personal recommendation, and they are renowned for the personal attention they give to all patients and their owners.
The team are looking forward to getting involved again with community projects, such as local dog shows and school visits. Several of their staff bring their own dogs with them to work and can always find a peaceful place to settle down!
The role is full time, working 40 hours per week over 4 days. The shifts include 3 x 9:00am-7:30pm, 1 x 10:00am-5:30pm and one day off every week with Fridays on a 1:4 rotation, and no OOH.
The team can be flexible on shift patterns for the right candidate.
Salary is up to 50,000 depending on experience + 5k Welcome Bonus.
