We have a rare opportunity for an ambitious and energetic vet to join a thriving, independent practice in Pembrokeshire, surrounded by beautiful beaches, country walks and the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. If your goal is to provide patient-centred veterinary excellence, then we would love to hear from you!

Would you like to work with a friendly and experienced team, who will be able to provide you with the structured support to develop your skills, allowing you to choose your clinical pathway during your early career, leading to a dedicated companion animal or farm animal position after 1-2 years?

Our client are currently looking for 2 new vets to join their expanding practice and so they have the flexibitity to consider vets interested in mixed, farm or small animal work: they are looking for the right overall mix and attitude to development.

Small Animal: The team are privileged to be able to deal with most clinical scenarios under one roof, from cardiology work-ups to fracture repair and TTA for cruciate disease. They follow up their own cases and work as a team when required. All of the small animal vets have equal access to the operating theatre, allowing a keen new grad to build up their repertoire. They also believe strongly in post-op rehabilitation and combine this with their successful arthritis care programmes, with nurses interested in massage therapy, they use laser, acupuncture and physiotherapy techniques. They are soon to install the first aquatic treadmill for hydrotherapy in west Wales. Much of their work is with dogs and cats, some rabbits and small furries, but do not see many exotics. They have the usual equipment with endoscopy, digital radiography, Logiq ultrasound, in-house Idexx lab, and nurses on-call.

Farm Animal: The client base varies from small family farms to large commercial units with dairy, beef and sheep being the main clients. They have many smallholders, backyard poultry, some goats and alpacas for those wanting variety. A very small amount of horse work is available, and is shared out between those interested. Pembrokeshire is a TB area, so part of all farm vets work is TB testing - a chance to get to know farmers and chat through herd heath issues. (They do have a dedicated TB tester to reduce the load on the clinical vets).

They are a friendly team, who work closely together to support each other. They cover their own out of hours, with separate small and farm rotas. At present 1:4 but with the new additions this will move to 1:5. An active social life is available, if also desired!
