An exciting career opportunity is available for a confident, small animal veterinary surgeon with at least one year of post-qualification experience to join a welcoming, family-owned practice. The successful candidate will become part of a close-knit and supportive team of five vets and five nurses, working within what is considered one of the country’s most beautiful veterinary practices.
This role is ideal for a vet who values building long-term relationships with clients and delivering exceptional care. The practice is deeply committed to continuity, ensuring clients are paired with their own dedicated vet, allowing responsibility for pets’ health and wellbeing throughout their lives. With full clinical autonomy and the backing of an experienced team, the focus remains on excellent diagnostics, trusted relationships, and affordable treatment plans rather than sales targets.
The practice is proud of its strong ties to the local community and works closely with charities including Cats Protection and the National Fox Welfare Society. For vets who enjoy becoming a familiar and trusted figure to pet owners, this position offers a rare opportunity to make a lasting impact.
The package includes a salary of £45,000–£50,000 depending on experience, alongside an annual bonus of up to 20% of salary based on measurable performance rather than sales, with a guaranteed first-year bonus. Additional benefits include a relocation package, pension, private healthcare, funded CPD and certificate training, paid RCVS and VDS fees, enhanced maternity pay, childcare support for children up to three years old, cost-price pet care, and five weeks’ annual leave plus bank holidays. Team culture is highly valued, with regular social outings including spa days, horse racing, karting, and casino evenings.
The role offers either a four- or five-day week with flexible working arrangements and only one in four weekends. There are no out-of-hours commitments, on-call duties, or bank holiday shifts. Vets benefit from 15-minute consultations and their own personalised consulting room, alongside access to a fully equipped clinic featuring digital DR x-ray, dental x-ray, ultrasound, laparoscopic equipment, dedicated cat and dog kennels, and an accredited Veterinary Nurse Training Centre.
The ideal candidate will remain calm under pressure, enjoy consulting as much as the clinical side of veterinary work, and thrive as part of a close and collaborative team. A positive attitude and willingness to contribute to the supportive culture—even making the occasional cup of tea—are valued.
The practice places great importance on hiring exceptional people and maintaining a positive team environment. Future recruitment decisions involve team input to ensure the culture remains strong. Their ethos centres around trust, responsibility, and long-term client relationships, distinguishing the practice from larger corporate groups. As the business continues to grow, including plans for a new purpose-built facility, there is strong investment in both clinical services and individual career progression.
Development opportunities are extensive, whether progressing toward Clinical Director level or eventually leading a practice. Mentorship and tailored training are a key focus, with leadership passionate about helping vets build fulfilling, rewarding careers. Spacious clinical areas filled with natural light and thoughtfully designed reception spaces create an environment where the team can feel genuinely proud to work.
