A rewarding opportunity is available for a Veterinary Surgeon seeking a first-opinion role that offers a varied caseload and the chance to develop professionally within a supportive environment.
This practice based in the Cannock Chase area combines compassion with high clinical standards and a strong focus on career progression. This role is well suited to someone looking to build confidence or further pursue their clinical interests, all within a collaborative and welcoming team.
The practice has been a trusted part of the local community for over 30 years, operating across two small animal sites. The role offers a well-balanced and flexible caseload, typically including dedicated surgery and consultation days alongside mixed duties, with scope to tailor this balance to individual preferences. Facilities are modern and well-equipped, featuring recently refurbished, spacious premises with advanced diagnostic tools including digital X-ray, ultrasound, dental radiography, and in-house laboratory equipment. Both sites maintain recognised accreditations, reflecting a strong commitment to high standards of patient care and environmental responsibility. The location provides the benefit of market town surroundings while remaining within easy reach of Birmingham and its transport links.
The team consists of experienced Veterinary Surgeons, a new graduate, skilled nursing staff, and a supportive front-of-house team. A strong emphasis is placed on continuous professional development, with encouragement for further qualifications and access to shared resources and expertise through close links with practices in the area. The working culture is close-knit, motivated, and sociable, with a shared commitment to delivering excellent care and building lasting client relationships.
The role would suit a small animal Veterinary Surgeon with at least two years’ experience in general practice, who is confident in routine primary care and enjoys a varied caseload. The ideal candidate will be committed to ongoing professional development, registered with the RCVS, and comfortable working as part of a collaborative team focused on high standards of care.
In return, the position offers a competitive benefits package including five weeks’ holiday plus bank holidays and birthday leave, relocation support, payment of RCVS and VDS fees, a contributory pension scheme, life assurance, an electric car salary sacrifice scheme, enhanced family leave, and access to extensive internal and externally funded CPD opportunities.
