My Independent client on the Wirral are looking for a new vet 
The practice is committed to providing exceptional veterinary services to clients and their animals, and the post holder is expected to demonstrate patience, empathy, sensitivity, and professionalism when dealing with both patients and their owners.
The Veterinary Surgeon will be responsible for the diagnosis, treatment, and management of a wide range of species, including small animals, reptiles, birds, chelonians, and other small mammals presented to the practice.
House visits may be required during working hours where an animal is unable to travel or an owner is unable to attend the surgery, provided it is safe and appropriate to do so.
Working closely with the Partners, Practice Manager, veterinary colleagues, nursing team, and client care staff, the Veterinary Surgeon is responsible for delivering outstanding clinical care and customer service.
Working hours are between the hours of 8.30 and 6.30pm and there are No OOH’s Vets sign up for 6 Saturdays a year but this is normally less.
The role includes conducting consultations, performing surgical procedures, undertaking investigative and diagnostic work, carrying out house visits when required, and providing care for hospitalised patients. The post holder is expected to communicate effectively with clients regarding treatment plans, patient progress, laboratory results, and financial matters, including providing accurate estimates where appropriate.
Additional responsibilities include supporting and developing team members, contributing to the training of EMS students and Veterinary Nursing students, preparing repeat prescriptions, completing euthanasia procedures in accordance with practice protocols, and assisting with insurance claims and client complaints when necessary. The post holder is also responsible for ensuring that appropriate arrangements are in place for the care of inpatients outside of normal working hours and may be required to provide cover for colleagues during periods of sickness or annual leave.
The successful candidate will hold an appropriate Veterinary Degree and be a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS). They will possess strong clinical and surgical skills, excellent communication and organisational abilities, and a commitment to delivering exceptional client and patient care.
The role requires professionalism, teamwork, resilience, flexibility, and the ability to work effectively under pressure. The individual should demonstrate confidence, respect, empathy, and sound judgement in all aspects of their work, together with a thorough understanding of animal health and welfare, public health and hygiene requirements, and the commercial responsibilities associated with veterinary practice.
