A rewarding opportunity is available for a compassionate, motivated, and team-focused Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established and progressive Somerset practice. This role is ideal for someone looking to work in a supportive environment alongside experienced colleagues, with a loyal client base and a strong emphasis on professional development, wellbeing, and long-term career growth.
The practice is home to a large and knowledgeable team of 24 vets, including certificate holders across a range of disciplines such as medicine, surgery, cardiology, and feline medicine, alongside a visiting ophthalmology specialist. Many team members are actively pursuing further qualifications, creating a culture that encourages continuous learning. The wider team includes over 50 nurses, from experienced RVNs to student nurses and patient care assistants, as well as a dedicated client care and call centre team, ensuring vets are fully supported in delivering high-quality care.
Clinically, the practice is well-equipped with modern facilities, including advanced surgical equipment, digital and dental imaging, ultrasound, an onsite laboratory, and access to a CT scanner at the nearby hospital. All branches are ISFM Cat Friendly Clinics, with dedicated feline appointment times, reflecting a strong commitment to patient care and welfare. The team also values innovation and responsibility, with opportunities to get involved in sustainability initiatives and patient safety programmes.
The working environment is both professional and sociable, with a strong team culture that includes regular meetings, open communication, and social activities such as running and dog-walking clubs. The rota is designed with work-life balance in mind, offering a mix of consulting, surgery, and hospital work, alongside flexible options where possible. A consult only role could also work for them. Out-of-hours care is delivered in-house, supported by a dedicated night team, ensuring continuity of care for patients while maintaining a fair and manageable rota for vets.
Located on the Somerset/Wiltshire border, the practice offers the best of both worlds, surrounded by countryside yet within easy reach of Bath, Bristol, the Cotswolds, and the south coast, with excellent transport links to major cities.
The role would suit an RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon who is confident with routine consultations and procedures, values teamwork, and is keen to develop clinically within a varied caseload. In return, a comprehensive benefits package is offered, including generous holiday allowance with additional birthday leave, relocation and visa support, paid professional fees, life assurance, staff discounts, pension contributions, and enhanced family leave. Ongoing development is actively supported through extensive CPD funding and opportunities to pursue further certifications, alongside a structured and supportive induction programme.
