An outstanding opportunity is available for a confident and experienced small animal veterinary surgeon with a few years of post-qualification experience to join a thriving, family-owned practice. Ideally someone with a desire to develop a caseload for a certain discipline.
This would be an excellent opportunity for a certificate holder who would benefit from a team built around them with a new practice in the plan for next year this could be set up for a growing caseload
Working alongside a friendly and supportive team of five vets and five nurses, the successful candidate will enjoy practising in what is arguably one of the most beautiful veterinary settings in the country, complete with a personalised consulting room.
This position is ideally suited to a vet who excels at building lasting client relationships and takes pride in delivering exceptional patient care. The practice places continuity at the centre of everything it does, pairing clients with their own dedicated vet to ensure lifelong trust and consistent care for their pets. With complete clinical autonomy and strong team support, vets are empowered to focus on diagnostics, treatment quality, and affordability rather than sales-driven targets.
Strong community values are central to the practice’s ethos, with close partnerships alongside charities such as Cats Protection and the National Fox Welfare Society. For an experienced vet who values becoming a trusted name within the local community, this role offers the opportunity to make a genuine and lasting impact.
In return, the practice offers a highly rewarding package, including a salary between £60,000 and £80,000 depending on expertise, alongside an annual bonus of up to 20% of salary based on measurable performance rather than sales. A guaranteed first-year bonus is also included, together with a relocation package, pension, private healthcare, paid CPD and certificate training, funded RCVS and VDS memberships, childcare support for children up to three years old, cost-price personal pet care, and five weeks’ annual leave plus bank holidays. Regular team social events, ranging from spa days and horse racing to karting and casino evenings, contribute to a genuinely supportive and enjoyable workplace culture.
The role offers flexibility with either a four- or five-day working week and one in four weekends. There are no out-of-hours commitments, on-call duties, or bank holiday shifts, allowing for a strong work-life balance. Vets benefit from 15-minute consultations, their own dedicated consulting room, and access to a well-equipped clinic designed to support a broad range of clinical and surgical ambitions. Facilities include laparoscopic equipment, digital DR x-ray, dental x-ray, ultrasound, cat and dog kennels, and an accredited Veterinary Nurse Training Centre.
The ideal candidate will be calm and confident under pressure, enjoy consulting just as much as the hands-on clinical work, and value being part of a close-knit, collaborative team. A positive attitude, team spirit, and willingness to contribute to the supportive family culture are considered just as important as clinical expertise.
