An opportunity is available for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with a couple of years of experience to join a practice in Chesterfield. The role is full-time, offering a salary between £40,000 and £50,000 depending on experience, alongside a range of additional benefits such as career progression opportunities, support for further qualifications, and access to lifestyle and shopping discounts.
The successful candidate would become part of a welcoming and well-established team that includes four veterinarians, six nurses, five client care advisors, and a practice manager. The working environment is designed to balance clinical excellence with staff wellbeing, with structured appointment times that allow for thorough care. Routine consultations are typically scheduled for 15 minutes, with longer appointments allocated when needed, and the working day is arranged so that consultations finish ahead of closing time. The position is based on a 40-hour week and includes participation in a one-in-four weekend rota.
The practice itself is modern, bright, and well-equipped, featuring facilities such as digital x-ray, ultrasound, blood pressure monitoring, and an in-house laboratory, enabling a high standard of diagnostic and clinical work.
The ideal candidate is described as approachable, calm, and enthusiastic, with strong interpersonal skills and a genuine commitment to patient and client care. Confidence in both medical and surgical aspects of veterinary work is important, as is the ability to contribute positively within a team-focused environment.
In return, the role offers a comprehensive benefits package. This includes professional membership fees covered, a contributory pension scheme, private health insurance, and a generous holiday allowance that increases with length of service. There are also staff discounts along with access to retail discounts and cashback schemes, a cycle-to-work initiative, and ongoing career development support including funded certificates and CPD opportunities.
Located on the edge of the Peak District, the practice benefits from a scenic setting combined with strong transport connections, offering an appealing balance between countryside living and access to nearby towns and cities.
