A new opportunity has arisen for experienced Veterinary Surgeons to play a key role in launching a purpose-built practice serving the communities of West London
Rather than joining an already established structure, this position offers the chance to help shape a brand-new surgery from the outset, working closely with the Head Vet to define how the practice develops. The environment has been carefully designed to support both patients and staff, with a modern, spacious layout and high-quality equipment throughout. The surgery will include multiple consulting rooms, dedicated operating theatres, separate imaging and dental suites, and well-planned prep and ward areas, creating a calm and efficient clinical setting.
From the beginning, the successful candidates will contribute to building a service that prioritises high clinical standards, excellent client experience, and a genuinely supportive team culture
This role places the Veterinary Surgeon at the heart of the practice as a clinical leader. Responsibilities will include managing a broad range of first-opinion cases, carrying out both routine and more advanced surgical procedures, and promoting preventative healthcare. Building strong relationships with clients is a key aspect of the role, alongside supporting and mentoring the nursing team and contributing to a culture of high clinical standards and collaboration. The position would suit a confident general practitioner with well-rounded skills, and there is scope to develop particular clinical interests with ongoing support.
The working pattern is structured to support both professional focus and work–life balance, typically involving four days per week with nine-hour shifts, participation in a one-in-four weekend rota, and an average of 39 hours weekly. Dedicated administrative time is included within each shift to ensure workloads remain manageable.
The wider organisation is a large, independent, family-owned veterinary group with a strong emphasis on investing in its people. This is reflected in a comprehensive package that includes financial incentives, funded CPD and professional memberships, and structured career development pathways, including leadership training. Additional benefits support wellbeing and lifestyle, such as generous annual leave plus bank holidays, enhanced family leave policies, wellbeing support programmes, and schemes such as electric car salary sacrifice, staff discounts on treatments and products, free consultations for personal pets, and access to a range of retail, travel, and lifestyle discounts, alongside practical benefits like free parking and provided uniform.
This role is particularly suited to someone who is motivated by delivering excellent patient care and client experience, enjoys working collaboratively, and communicates with clarity and empathy. A proactive and organised approach, combined with the ability to remain calm under pressure, will be important, as will a genuine interest in helping to build and shape a new practice environment.
