An exciting opportunity has become available for an additional Veterinary Surgeon to join an experienced and supportive clinical team, a well-established first-opinion practice located in the sought-after town of Brentwood, Essex.
Due to the popularity of the practice and its varied caseload, they offer an excellent mix of both medical and surgical cases, making it an ideal environment for a vet who is confident with routine GP procedures and enjoys working within a busy first-opinion setting. Alongside the facilities expected within a thriving practice, the clinic is also equipped with ultrasound and K-Laser technology, supporting a broad range of diagnostics and treatments.
The successful candidate will become part of a highly experienced and collaborative team, including multiple Registered Veterinary Nurses, dedicated support colleagues, and a part-time senior vet. Additional support is available through a dedicated Regional Manager and an experienced Regional Head Vet, providing both operational guidance and clinical expertise when needed.
Flexible working options are available, with the practice open to either one full-time vet working across four days or two part-time vets. The rota is designed to provide balance, including only one full day of sole charge, a 1:4 Saturday rotation, a 1:8 Sunday rotation at a local Hospital, participation in 1–2 bank holidays per year, and inclusion in the last-resort on-call rota.
To ensure a smooth transition into the role, the successful candidate will spend time during their induction period at the hospital, meeting the wider team and becoming familiar with the support network and facilities available.
The role offers the opportunity to work across a varied caseload, delivering consultations, performing routine GP surgery, maintaining accurate clinical records, prescribing and dispensing medication in line with current legislation and professional guidance, and referring cases appropriately when required. Equally important is contributing to a respectful, collaborative team culture and maintaining high clinical standards.
The location offers an exceptional work-life balance. Just minutes from Brentwood High Street and surrounded by countryside, the practice also benefits from excellent transport links, with trainlines only a short walk away, providing direct access to Central London.
The salary for this position ranges from £45,000 to £72,000 FTE, dependent on experience, with clear opportunity for progression and development within the role.
Benefits include:
A generous package designed to support wellbeing and professional growth, including 6.6 weeks annual leave inclusive of bank holidays (pro rata for part-time colleagues), relocation assistance where applicable, up to £2,000 CPD allowance annually with paid CPD leave, and private medical healthcare insurance through Bupa.
