This is an excellent opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon who is passionate about animal welfare and committed to delivering high standards of care. The role is based in Wigan at a practice where the focus is on creating a supportive and knowledgeable environment that prioritises patient wellbeing.
The practice is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join an established and friendly team consisting of five vets, eight registered veterinary nurses, five receptionists and three veterinary care assistants. Flexibility is a key part of this role, with no fixed rota or set working hours. The team is open to shaping a schedule that suits the individual, although participation in a one-in-five Saturday rota (9am–3pm) is preferred.
As a busy practice with a varied and interesting caseload, the team is looking for someone who thrives in a collaborative setting and consistently aims to provide gold-standard care to both patients and clients. Consultations typically run between 20 and 30 minutes, supported by nurse-led clinics, and dedicated administrative time is built into each day to help ensure a healthy work–life balance and timely finishes.
The wider team includes a highly skilled and motivated nursing group with a strong focus on evidence-based medicine and continuous improvement. Their expertise includes advanced diploma qualifications, a certification in anaesthesia, emergency and critical care knowledge, and feline nursing accreditation, all contributing to the high standard of care delivered within the practice.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in veterinary practice, strong communication skills, and confidence in the consulting room. They will also enjoy working collaboratively, contributing ideas, and supporting the ongoing development of the practice. With a diverse caseload and a generous CPD allowance, there is ample opportunity for both personal and clinical growth, including the ability to develop individual interests.
In return, the role offers a competitive salary based on experience, a contributory pension scheme, and payment of professional memberships.
