My client in Islington is looking to recruit a Veterinary Surgeon with a strong clinical focus, particularly in areas such as internal medicine, diagnostic imaging, or cardiology. This position presents an excellent opportunity for a vet who is keen to develop a specific clinical interest within a progressive and well-supported practice that places emphasis on continuity of care, professional development, and maintaining high clinical standards.
The role is ideally suited to a Veterinary Surgeon who is motivated by managing more complex medical cases and taking a thorough, investigative approach to diagnostics. The successful candidate will play a key role in handling a varied caseload that is growing in both volume and complexity, while also building strong and lasting relationships with clients through consistent, high-quality care. There is scope to influence the clinical direction of the practice and contribute to the ongoing development of in-house services.
This opportunity would appeal to someone who has a genuine interest in advancing their expertise in medicine, imaging, or cardiology, whether they already hold a certificate, are working towards one, or have gained equivalent experience in practice. Confidence in managing medical cases and a passion for clinical problem-solving are essential, alongside a commitment to teamwork, clear communication, and maintaining excellent standards of care. The practice is particularly suited to individuals who are driven to grow and evolve within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.
In return, the role offers a strong package of support for both clinical and personal development. This includes funding and encouragement for certificate study, access to a wide clinical community and referral network, and the opportunity to actively shape services within the practice. The working environment is collaborative and designed to support vets in building their clinical interests while maintaining a balanced workload.
The position typically involves a four-day working week with a regular day off, alongside a weekend rota that can be tailored depending on preference. Flexibility is considered an important part of ensuring a sustainable and enjoyable role.
Based in North London, the practice is well established with a loyal and expanding client base and benefits from a convenient location close to excellent transport links, including Essex Road, Highbury & Islington, and Angel. The caseload offers both variety and complexity, making it an ideal setting for a vet looking to further develop their clinical skills.
The overall package reflects a commitment to supporting career progression and wellbeing. This includes private medical insurance and a health cash plan, access to 24/7 counselling and wellbeing services, and life assurance. Annual leave starts at five weeks plus bank holidays and increases with service, alongside an additional paid day off each year. A generous CPD allowance with funded study leave is provided, along with access to internal training, clinical communities, and 24-hour hospital support. Professional fees are covered, and additional benefits such as relocation assistance and visa sponsorship are available, depending on individual circumstances
