I have a lovely client in South Manchester who is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join its friendly and forward-thinking team. This is an exciting opportunity for a clinician who shares the practice’s commitment to high standards of care and teamwork.
The role is a first-opinion position that includes a mixture of consultations and clinical responsibilities, with some sole charge required, so confidence and experience are essential. The position is full-time, based on a four-day working week. Weekend work is included on a rota basis and is compensated with time off in lieu, alongside occasional late evening shifts from 5:00pm to 11:00pm, supported by the practice’s own 24-hour clinic. There are no on-call duties, and with an in-house referral hospital and out-of-hours team, patients can be managed within the group without the need for external referrals. Salary typically starts from £41,500 upwards and is dependent on experience.
They operate as part of a busy seven-branch group, including a Tier 3 hospital and an in-house referral team. The practice is well-equipped and offers access to a wide range of advanced facilities, such as CT imaging, visiting MRI services, Doppler echocardiography, endoscopy, digital and dental radiography, ultrasound, and laparoscopic and fluoroscopic equipment, along with advanced anaesthesia capabilities. The team prides itself on delivering gold-standard care and providing the best possible treatment options. The location in South Manchester offers excellent transport links and easy access to both the Peak District and Lake District.
A comprehensive benefits package is provided, including a workplace pension, employee assistance programme, and payment of RCVS and an additional professional membership. There is a generous and flexible CPD allowance, with certificates fully supported and encouraged, reflecting the practice’s strong focus on professional development. Additional benefits include discounted private medical cover, enhanced parental leave, the option to buy or sell holiday, VDS cover, pet discounts, a cycle-to-work scheme, and flexible working opportunities. Employees also benefit from internal recognition schemes, long service awards, and 6.6 weeks of paid holiday including bank holidays.
