This lovely vet practice set across the borders Devon and Cornwall is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join its friendly and highly supportive team. With more than 65 years of providing excellent care to both pets and farm animals across Devon and Cornwall, the practice has built a strong reputation for quality and compassion.
The group operates across three small animal sites, all sharing a beautiful locations either on the coast, river or charming Market town,all of which are equipped for surgical procedures. The location offers an appealing lifestyle, with easy access to the coast, Dartmoor, and the nearby city of Plymouth. The practice manages a wide range of medical and surgical cases in-house, supported by modern equipment including dental radiography, visiting orthopaedic specialists, and advanced imaging services provided by a certificate holder.
The team is made up of seven vets working a mix of full- and part-time roles, alongside a skilled nursing and support team. The culture is notably social and collaborative, with regular activities such as group meals, park runs, and quizzes, as well as weekly clinical meetings to share knowledge and discuss cases. Professional development is strongly encouraged, with generous support for CPD and further certifications.
This is a full-time role based on a 4.5-day working week, though flexible arrangements can be discussed to suit individual needs. Working hours are typically 8:30am to 5:30pm, allowing for a good work-life balance. The position includes participation in a Saturday morning rota, currently one in six, with time off in lieu provided. There are no emergency out-of-hours duties, as overnight in-patient care is supported by a dedicated night nurse, with a vet available on-call if needed. Work across the different branches is part of the role but can be adapted based on preferences.
The salary is dependent on experience, and the benefits package is extensive. It includes 6.6 weeks of annual leave including bank holidays, a £1,750 CPD allowance, paid professional memberships, and comprehensive health and wellbeing support.
