This client in Kent is offering a Veterinary Surgeon position across multi-sites, with a salary of up to £65,000 depending on experience. The role can be full-time or part-time, typically structured as 40 hours over four days (08:30–18:30), with a 1-in-5 Saturday rota (08:30–16:30) and no out-of-hours commitments. Some flexibility is available, although Mondays and Tuesdays are fixed working days.
The position involves the option to step into or work towards a leadership role. It offers a balanced mix of autonomy and support, allowing the Veterinary Surgeon to manage cases, perform surgery, and contribute to a collaborative and positive team environment. The role typically includes an even split between consultations and surgical work, alongside exposure to a varied caseload across all sites. While there will be some sole charge responsibilities, these are supported by an experienced wider team. There is also the option to spend one day per week at the Hospital, where overnight care is handled.
Unlike many roles that promise progression without delivering meaningful change, this opportunity is designed to allow genuine professional growth. The successful candidate will be able to shape their position in a way that suits their ambitions, whether that involves moving into a Lead Veterinary Surgeon role, developing clinical confidence, or achieving a more practical balance between consulting, surgery, and personal commitments.
This is a varied and hands-on role combining consultations, surgery, and occasional sole charge duties, giving the successful candidate the opportunity to build confidence, take ownership of cases, and further develop their clinical skills. Work will primarily be based at 3 of the branch practices, with flexibility to spend time at the hospital depending on individual interests and development goals. Support is readily available from colleagues across the wider group, along with access to hospital-level facilities to ensure cases can be worked up to a high standard.
They are an RCVS-accredited organisation with six established sites across Kent and East Sussex, supported by the Hospital. The wider team includes experienced Veterinary Surgeons and RVNs with interests spanning surgery, dermatology, dentistry, radiography, and anaesthesia, fostering a strong culture of shared learning. Facilities across the group include surgical suites, digital and dental x-ray, ultrasound, and in-house laboratory equipment. The Hospital itself holds RCVS accreditation and Gold ISFM status, providing 24/7 emergency care supported by a dedicated team of nurses and patient care assistants.
The ideal candidate will be an RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon with at least a few years of UK experience, confident in both consultations and routine surgical procedures, and comfortable working occasional sole charge. Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach are essential, along with a commitment to maintaining high standards of patient and client care. An interest in leadership or career progression is advantageous, particularly for those considering a Lead Vet pathway, and a desire to pursue further qualifications such as a medical certificate would be welcomed but is not essential.
The role comes with a comprehensive benefits package, including five weeks of annual leave plus bank holidays and an additional day for a birthday, paid RCVS and VDS fees, and funded external CPD alongside access to an extensive internal CPD programme. Additional benefits include career progression opportunities, staff discounts, life assurance, enhanced sickness and family leave policies, a pension scheme with employer contributions, and a range of wellbeing initiatives such as an employee assistance programme, eyecare vouchers, annual flu vaccinations, and a cycle-to-work scheme.
