This practice based in Chesterfield in the heart of Derbyshire is looking for a confident and compassionate vet to join its close-knit team. The role is available on a full-time basis, although flexible working options, including part-time and term-time contracts, will be considered. The salary starts from £65,000, depending on experience, and includes a one-in-four weekend rota with no out-of-hours commitments.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced small animal Veterinary Surgeon who is comfortable mentoring a new graduate and enjoys working as part of a supportive team. They will be clinically confident without ego, communicate well with both clients and colleagues, and appreciate a workplace where professionalism is balanced with humour, kindness and genuine teamwork.
The practice prides itself on providing enough time to deliver excellent patient care. Standard consultations are scheduled for 15 minutes, with the flexibility to extend appointments whenever required. Protected lunch breaks are an important part of the working day, with the practice closing for an hour so the team can step away, eat together, recharge, and return refreshed for the afternoon.
Support is provided by an experienced team of three Registered Veterinary Nurses who fully utilise Schedule 3 responsibilities, alongside a skilled and proactive support team. Clinical facilities include a dedicated operating theatre, a spacious preparation area, separate dog and cat wards, digital radiography, ultrasound, and a Tonopen. The practice also treats a variety of exotic species, including snakes, offering additional clinical variety for those with an interest in exotics, although this is by no means a requirement.
The culture is one of the practice's greatest strengths. Teamwork is central to everything they do, with colleagues supporting one another through busy days while maintaining a positive and enjoyable working environment. There is little room for hierarchy, egos or unnecessary corporate pressure. Instead, the focus is on collaboration, respect and delivering the highest standard of care for patients and clients alike.
Located on the edge of the Peak District, the practice benefits from excellent transport links, with easy access to the M1, East Midlands Airport and on-site parking. It has built a loyal client base that values the personalised, high-quality care the team provides.
For the right person, this is an opportunity to join a practice where people enjoy coming to work, patients receive outstanding care, and every team member is genuinely valued.
