Located in Uxbridge, a historic suburban district of West London with roots stretching back to medieval times, this practice has long been a trusted part of the local community. The practice is now looking to recruit an additional part-time Veterinary Surgeon to strengthen its first-opinion GP team.
The role is structured as a two-day working week, covering Thursdays and Fridays, with Friday being a full 8-hour day. The rota also includes participation in a 1 in 3 Saturday branch schedule and 1 in 8 Sundays alongside the Hospital team, as well as one to two bank holidays per year. There are no on-call responsibilities attached to this position. For those seeking a full-time role, there is flexibility to increase hours by working additional days at nearby practices, such as in Acton.
In this position, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality consultations, carrying out routine surgical procedures within their level of competence, and ensuring all treatments and prescriptions follow current clinical guidelines and regulations set by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. Maintaining clear and accurate clinical records is essential, as is the ability to refer cases appropriately when required. The role also places importance on contributing to a positive, collaborative team culture.
The practice offers strong clinical support, with an experienced team that includes a senior vet, registered veterinary nurses, and trainee nurses. Additional guidance is available from a regional head vet, while out-of-hours care and more complex referrals are managed by the Hospital.
Facilities at the Uxbridge branch are spacious and well-designed, featuring three consultation rooms, a large kennel and prep area, and a dedicated theatre space, all enhanced by ample natural light. On-site parking is also available, which is a notable advantage for a London location.
The practice is conveniently situated around a 15-minute walk from Uxbridge Underground station on the Metropolitan line, offering direct connections to central London locations such as King’s Cross, Farringdon, and Liverpool Street. The area provides a balance of urban accessibility and nearby green spaces, making it an appealing place to live and work.
The salary range for this role is between £45,000 and £72,000 per year (full-time equivalent), with the actual figure adjusted proportionally for part-time hours and reflective of experience and development potential. Benefits include 6.6 weeks of annual leave including bank holidays (pro rata), a generous CPD allowance of up to £2,000 annually with paid CPD leave, private medical insurance through Bupa, and relocation support where applicable.
