Our client based near Sheffield is looking for driven Senior Veterinary Surgeon / Deputy Clinical Director’ to join their busy and progressive practice.

This is a thriving practice located in the South Yorkshire/Derbyshire area. They have all the latest gadgets and equipment available including laparoscopic kit, CO2 laser, extensive in-house laboratory and modern x-ray facilities. Patients and clients are at the forefront of what they do and they encourage a bond built on mutual trust and respect and this extends into the team too. The client believes that time off should be just that, time away from the job to rest and recharge. They seek to balance responsibilities to their clients with work life balance. All the colleagues have a great sense of humour and a positive mindset.

There is a varied caseload of both exotic and small animal medical and surgical cases, and duties are split between consulting, operating, workups and inpatient care. The client base is primarily made up of reptiles, avian and small mammals, in addition to cats and dogs. They also provide occasional care for local wildlife parks. They run 30-minute initial exotic consults and 15-minute follow-ups as standard, to enable them to provide an excellent service to clients and provide an exceptional standard of care to their patients.

Ideally, this would suit an experienced exotic certificate holder or advanced practitioner as there is a large exotic caseload, including first opinion and referral work. This is a full time role working 4 days per week, 1:7 Saturdays, covering the hours of 8:30am-3:00pm only and no out of hours. An additional interest in small animal medicine would be desirable. There is a collaborative approach to cases, so you should be happy to take part in clinical case discussions. Exceptional communication skills are essential.

You will be working alongside an amazing team of people including 10 Vets, 10 RVNs, 1 SVN and 8 receptionists. They are lucky to have a very supportive management team who fully encourage CPD, postgraduate studies and the ability to pursue specific areas of interest. As part of this role, you would be expected to integrate well within the current leadership team, take responsibility for financial targets, provide staff with a point of contact, deal with client enquiries and ensure the efficient daily running of the site. Ability to be confident working independently as sole charge where required and work successfully as part of a wider team.
