Senior Registered Veterinary Nurse – Buckinghamshire
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a well-established first-opinion practice in a picturesque village in Bucks, close to Amersham, Beaconsfield and Gerards Cross.  The practice has built strong, long-standing relationships within the local community and benefits from a largely insured client base, allowing for a high level of in-house diagnostic investigations, including ultrasound work-ups.
Set within a peaceful village environment, the practice offers a welcoming and well-equipped workspace, including three consultation rooms and separate dog and cat wards. Staff also benefit from a spacious garden and outdoor decking area, providing a relaxing setting for breaks.
As a Senior RVN, the role will involve overseeing the nursing team to maintain high and continually improving standards of patient care and welfare. Responsibilities will include supporting veterinary surgeons during consultations and procedures, utilising Schedule 3 nursing skills, ensuring clinical equipment is maintained and serviced appropriately, and overseeing controlled drug audits in line with protocols. The role also involves supervising reception operations to ensure an excellent client experience, managing daily communications with pet owners, and supporting student nurses in a clinical supervisory capacity.
This flexible position offers between 20 and 30 hours per week and includes a shared rota of one in three branch Saturdays and one in ten hospital Sundays. There is also one Bank Holiday shift per year. Importantly, there are no on-call requirements, supporting a positive work-life balance.
Accommodation above the practice is also available to rent if required.
The successful candidate will join a highly experienced and supportive team consisting of 2.5 vets, skilled nursing and reception colleagues, and a long-standing regional manager, all of whom bring stability and collaboration to the practice.
Out-of-hours support is provided by a local Veterinary Hospital, a state-of-the-art facility offering 24-hour care and access to advanced equipment such as CT, ultrasound, laparoscopic technology, endoscopy, and specialist-led services.
The salary for this Senior RVN position ranges from £36,000 to £39,000 full-time equivalent, depending on experience, with scope for progression within the role. A comprehensive benefits package is also offered, including generous annual leave, an annual CPD budget with paid CPD leave, paid lunch breaks, and access to a private healthcare scheme at a reduced rate, alongside medical cashback incentives.
