This is an opportunity for a registered veterinary nurse to be part of the founding team in a brand-new, purpose-built veterinary surgery, helping to shape how the practice operates, how the team develops, and how patient care is delivered from the outset.
Rather than joining an established structure, the successful RVN will play an active role in creating one. The surgery has been designed as a modern, spacious and well-equipped clinical environment, with multiple consulting rooms, operating theatres, dedicated dental and imaging suites, and carefully planned inpatient and preparation areas. It is intended to support high clinical standards while also providing a calm and comfortable experience for patients, clients, and staff.
The role offers genuine scope to use and develop the full range of nursing skills. Working within a supportive environment. The RVN will be encouraged to take responsibility for nurse clinics, Schedule 3 procedures, inpatient care, anaesthesia monitoring, diagnostics, and client education. There is also the opportunity to contribute to shaping processes, team culture, and the overall running of the practice, rather than simply working within pre-existing systems.
As a central member of the clinical team, the nurse will be actively involved in day-to-day operations, supporting veterinary surgeons during consultations, assisting with diagnostics and surgical procedures, and delivering high standards of inpatient monitoring and care. They will also undertake laboratory work, radiography, and theatre duties, while providing a professional and reassuring experience for every client and patient. Where appropriate, there will be opportunities to support and mentor student nurses.
The working pattern is based on full-time hours, typically four nine-hour shifts per week, with an average working week of around 39 hours. The rota includes evenings and weekends, as well as participation in nurse care nights, with accommodation provided when required. Some flexibility may be considered depending on individual circumstances.
The organisation places strong emphasis on recognising and supporting its nursing teams. Benefits include structured CPD and development opportunities, funded professional fees, and a monthly recognition scheme. Wellbeing and work–life balance are supported through annual leave entitlement, enhanced parental leave policies, compassionate leave, and access to wellbeing support services.
Additional everyday benefits include staff discounts on treatments and products, free consultations for personal pets, and access to retail, travel, and lifestyle discounts, alongside practical perks such as free parking, uniform provision, and other workplace amenities.
This role is ideally suited to a proactive and enthusiastic RVN who is committed to delivering excellent patient care, enjoys working collaboratively, and wants to play an active role in building something new.
