A well-established small animal practice in Northampton is seeking a qualified and experienced GP veterinary surgeon to join its team. The practice has a strong client base and is known for its friendly, close-knit environment where kindness and respect underpin everything—from patient care to team relationships.
Following the loss of its previous premises in a fire, the team demonstrated remarkable resilience and unity, continuing to uphold a calm and supportive atmosphere where collaboration is encouraged and patient welfare remains the top priority. The new, purpose-built practice is due to open in spring, approximately 1.5 miles from Northampton Rail Station and within an hour of Luton Airport.
The team consists of experienced and dedicated professionals, including the practice owner and lead vet, consulting vets, nurses at various stages of their careers, and a long-standing support staff. Many team members have been with the practice for several years, reflecting a stable and cohesive working environment.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced small animal vet, confident in routine consultations and surgery (although a consulting-only role may be considered), and comfortable with occasional sole charge responsibilities. They will be a compassionate communicator who values teamwork, prioritises animal welfare, and is looking for a workplace that supports their wellbeing as much as their professional development.
The role involves delivering high-quality, compassionate care, managing a varied caseload with support when needed, and building strong relationships with clients who appreciate continuity and expertise. The successful candidate will work closely with a skilled nursing and support team, contributing to a positive and respectful workplace culture.
In return, the practice offers a competitive salary ranging from £45,000 to £65,000 depending on experience, along with a range of benefits. These include a relocation or welcome bonus, professional memberships, a pension scheme, and generous CPD support tailored to individual interests. The practice also provides modern facilities, employee discounts, and initiatives to promote a healthy work-life balance, such as flexible working hours, no out-of-hours duties, and limited weekend work. Additional perks include paid holidays on key dates, support for bank holiday coverage on a rota basis, discounted pet care, a cycle-to-work scheme, and free parking.
