An exciting opportunity is available for a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) seeking a new career direction in a non-clinical, client-focused role. This position is ideal for a nurse looking to step away from hands-on clinical duties while continuing to make a valuable contribution to patient care and client support.
This clinic in Oldham close to Manchester is seeking a Reception Veterinary Nurse to join the team, where they will play an important role in delivering a positive and seamless experience for clients and their pets. Acting as a key link between customer service and clinical teams, the successful candidate will use their veterinary knowledge to support patient triage, coordinate appointments, and contribute to safe and effective pharmacy processes.
This role would suit an RVN with at least two years of experience who thrives in a busy environment, enjoys problem-solving, and is passionate about providing excellent service to pet owners.
The Role
The Reception Veterinary Nurse will use their clinical expertise to support patient triage, helping ensure pets are prioritised appropriately and directed to the right team at the right time. They will oversee appointment coordination across multiple workstreams to maximise efficiency and ensure clients and patients are seen promptly.
A significant aspect of the role involves communicating with clients through digital platforms, telephone calls, and face-to-face interactions. The successful candidate will provide accurate guidance, answer enquiries, and support owners throughout their pet’s journey with professionalism and compassion.
Additional responsibilities include assisting with repeat prescriptions, medication dispensing, and maintaining pharmacy standards to ensure safety, accuracy, and effective stock control. The role also includes a range of administrative duties, such as handling insurance queries, following up cases, supporting debt management processes, and resolving day-to-day client concerns before they escalate.
As the clinic grows, the position will also involve providing leadership and line management support to the client services team. Reception responsibilities will form part of the role, with involvement in a rota delivering an exceptional client experience across in-person, telephone, and digital communication channels.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be an RVN-qualified professional with a minimum of two years’ experience and strong communication and organisational skills. They will be calm under pressure, solution-focused, and confident in working closely with both clients and clinical teams. A genuine passion for delivering an outstanding client experience is essential.
Benefits
The role offers a comprehensive benefits package, including six weeks of holiday (including bank holidays), funded CPD, paid RCVS and VDS fees, and access to an enhanced maternity and paternity package. Team members also benefit from a contributory pension scheme, employee assistance and counselling support, staff discounts, a cycle-to-work scheme, an electric car scheme, and a refer-a-friend bonus.
Role Details
This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week, worked across four days, with shifts scheduled between 07:45 and 19:00. The role includes one in four weekends with time off in lieu (TOIL) and is designed specifically as a non-clinical opportunity for nurses transitioning away from practice.
