Night Veterinary Surgeon – 5 on 10 off - Lancashire
A leading veterinary team in Lancashire, is seeking an experienced Night Veterinary Surgeon to join its supportive and collaborative 24-hour practice. The successful candidate will provide high-quality out-of-hours care across several local practices, managing a varied caseload with a focus on emergency and critical care, as well as inpatient support.
This is a full-time position based at the 24-hour hospital, working an annualised hours contract designed to provide an excellent work–life balance. The role follows a 5 nights on, 10 nights off rota, with shifts running from 7pm to 9am.
The ideal candidate will be confident working independently overnight and have strong experience handling emergency and critical care cases. Previous out-of-hours or ECC experience is essential, along with excellent clinical judgement, a calm approach under pressure, and a compassionate, team-focused attitude.
The team is known for its supportive and collaborative environment, with a shared commitment to providing exceptional patient care. The practice welcomes individuals who are passionate about emergency medicine and looking to further develop their ECC skills.
Location
Located in a thriving market town located on the edge of the West Pennine Moors, offering a balance of countryside surroundings and easy access to city amenities. With excellent transport links, including convenient access to major motorway networks, the area provides straightforward travel to nearby cities, while Manchester and Liverpool airports are also within easy reach.
The successful candidate will receive a generous benefits package, including private medical insurance, counselling and wellbeing support, life assurance, five weeks’ annual leave plus bank holidays, £1,500 CPD allowance and three days of paid CPD leave annually. The successful applicant will also have access to internal CPD programmes, clinical communities, 24-hour hospital resources, funded certificates, and structured career progression opportunities.
Additional benefits include payment of RCVS, VDS, and BVA fees, along with relocation assistance and visa sponsorship where applicable.
