Mixed Animal Veterinary Surgeon

This Veterinary Clinic is seeking a motivated Mixed Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join its friendly, supportive team across it’s Large Animal and Small Animal practices. This position offers a varied caseload, modern facilities, and an environment where both recent graduates (12 months) and experienced vets can thrive.
Established 36 years ago, this is a well-respected practice with a loyal client base. The team is small but tight-knit, including four veterinarians, two qualified nurses plus a student nurse, a TB assistant, three receptionists, and a practice manager. Staff describe the practice as welcoming, well-equipped, and collaborative, with supportive colleagues and appreciative clients.
The role involves a combination of routine and emergency large animal work, including TB testing, mastitis and parasitology visits, alongside small animal duties such as consultations and surgeries. The caseload is approximately 70% large animal and 30% small animal. The position is full-time and includes one to two nights on call per week. Weekend cover is shared with a neighbouring practice, following a 1:3 rota from January to May and a 1:6 rota from June to December. The salary can reach up to €60,000, depending on experience.
The ideal candidate is someone with initial post-graduate experience, with a willingness to learn and integrate into a collaborative team are encouraged to apply. A strong interest in both large and small animal practice, combined with flexibility and enthusiasm, is essential.
The clinics are well-located for both lifestyle and transport such as train station with regular services to Dublin and Cork, while the surrounding area provides access to a wide range of recreational activities, including hurling, football, rugby, golf, swimming, and local cultural events. The location balances a peaceful rural environment with convenient connections to larger cities.
They offer a competitive benefits package, including a practice van, paid Vet Council and VDS fees, and a generous CPD allowance of €2,000 plus five days per year.
