Veterinary Surgeon – Northamptonshire
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Veterinary Surgeon to join a brand-new, state-of-the-art veterinary hospital in the heart of Northamptonshire. Based in the historic market town of Kettering, this role offers the chance to work within a thriving and supportive environment, backed by exceptional facilities and a highly experienced team.
Kettering combines the charm of a traditional market town with excellent local amenities, highly regarded schools, sporting facilities, and beautiful surrounding countryside. With direct rail links to both London and Birmingham in under an hour, the location offers the ideal balance of accessibility and quality of life.
The successful candidate will join a large and collaborative team of more than 80 colleagues, creating an environment where support is always close at hand. The hospital is particularly proud of its dedicated nursing team, many of whom have progressed through internal training pathways and continued to develop their careers within the practice.
The Hospital is a purpose-built, 24-hour facility designed by veterinary professionals to meet the demands of modern clinical care. Following relocation from its previous premises due to continued growth, the hospital now offers advanced equipment and facilities including CT, digital x-ray, endoscopy, laparoscopy, ultrasound, sterile theatre facilities, piped gas, and excellent welfare spaces for the team.
Established for over 60 years, they have five branch surgeries alongside a 24-hour hospital, caring for pets throughout Northamptonshire and South Leicestershire. The practice places both people and pets at the centre of everything it does, fostering a welcoming and collaborative culture where professional growth is actively encouraged.
The team also enjoys a strong social culture, with opportunities to connect outside of work through seasonal celebrations, team events, and charity fundraising initiatives.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for both recently qualified vets close to completing their VetGDP and experienced clinicians looking to further develop specific interests. Clinical development is strongly supported, with vets encouraged to work cases through and make full use of the hospital’s outstanding diagnostic and treatment facilities.
Both full-time and part-time applications are welcomed, with flexibility around working hours wherever possible. Importantly, there are no out-of-hours responsibilities, thanks to a dedicated OOH team, supporting an excellent work-life balance. Weekend commitments are limited to a 1:8 daytime rota, with an additional short shift and time off in lieu provided for any weekends worked.
The salary for this role starts from £40,000 dependent on experience (pro rata).
Benefits include: 6.6 weeks paid holiday inclusive of bank holidays, an annual CPD allowance of £1,750, paid professional memberships, relocation support, and temporary accommodation where required.
Additional benefits include Health cover, enhanced family leave policies, discounted veterinary fees, company sick pay, wellbeing support initiatives, employee discounts and cashback schemes, and excellent in-house career development opportunities.
