My client in Oxfordshire is looking for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse who is ready to take the next step in their career and move into a clinical leadership position. The role would suit an RVN who enjoys combining hands-on nursing with supporting colleagues and helping a practice continue to develop.
This practice has two sites, with staff shared between the two locations. Together, the practices have a well-established and supportive team comprising five Veterinary Surgeons, eight RVNs, three VCAs and three CCAs. The experienced Owner is also on hand to provide guidance and support, creating a collaborative environment for someone looking to develop their leadership and operational management skills.
With an established client base and strong links within the local community, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a genuine contribution to the continued development of the practice. There is considerable scope to build on existing operational skills while maintaining a high standard of patient and client care.
The Role
As Head Nurse, the successful candidate will provide clinical leadership to the nursing team, helping to ensure consistently high standards across patient care, nursing protocols and day-to-day practice operations. The role combines leadership and hands-on clinical responsibilities, with plenty of scope for the successful candidate to develop their management experience.
The position is full-time, working 40 hours over four days, with a 1-in-6 weekend commitment
The practice is well equipped to support a varied caseload, with facilities including ultrasound, ECG, a dedicated dental suite and an in-house laboratory. There is also a high degree of clinical autonomy, allowing the nursing team to make the most of their skills and experience.
Ongoing learning and development is encouraged, with support available for nurses looking to undertake further certificates or expand their clinical expertise.
Alongside a good level of clinical freedom, the role offers opportunities to develop both professionally and operationally within a well-established practice.
For an RVN ready to progress into a Head Nurse position, this provides the opportunity to take on greater responsibility while remaining part of a collaborative and supportive clinical team.
