North Shropshire
An experienced Veterinary Surgeon is sought to join a recently refurbished practice, presenting an excellent opportunity to take ownership of a varied caseload and influence clinical direction. The practice itself has been recently modernised and is conveniently located within a short walk of the train station. It features three consultation rooms, a large preparation area, and a spacious operating theatre. Facilities include ultrasound and dental equipment, along with separate waiting areas for cats and dogs to ensure a calmer environment.
This position is particularly suited to a vet with a strong interest in surgery. The successful candidate will have the autonomy to manage and develop their own caseload while continuing to build surgical expertise. Support is provided through a well-equipped environment and a team committed to clinical development, including funded continuing professional development and opportunities to pursue further qualifications.
The role is structured across four days per week, with participation in a one-in-three Saturday rota and no out-of-hours requirements. A strong emphasis is placed on clinical independence and the ability to grow and shape an individual caseload.
The team environment is supportive and welcoming, offering the freedom and resources needed to make the role personally rewarding and professionally fulfilling.
A comprehensive benefits package is provided, recognising that a career extends beyond day-to-day responsibilities. This includes private medical insurance and a health cash plan from the first day of employment, access to round-the-clock counselling and wellbeing support, and life assurance at three times salary.
Annual leave starts at five weeks plus bank holidays and increases with length of service, alongside an additional paid “Day for You.” Professional development is supported through a £1,500 CPD allowance with three days of paid leave each year, access to clinical communities and internal training, as well as funding for certificates and clear career progression pathways.
Additional support includes payment of professional fees (RCVS, VDS, and BVA), as well as relocation assistance and visa sponsorship where required. Sabbatical opportunities are also available, depending on length of service.
