Registered Veterinary Nurse – Full-Time Opportunity - Durham
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a welcoming and supportive team in a modern, purpose-built practice. This full-time position, with part-time applications also considered, offers a varied rota designed to make full use of nursing skills while supporting a healthy work-life balance.
The role involves working four 10-hour shifts per week, which includes a shared weekday duty shift focused on inpatient care and triaging emergency telephone calls, for which a generous financial bonus is provided. Saturday shifts are included on a pro rata basis, while Sundays and Bank Holidays are completely free, allowing for valuable personal time.
The successful candidate will become part of a collaborative team environment where professional development and wellbeing are strongly encouraged. Salary is dependent on experience, and the practice offers flexible working patterns, an annual CPD allowance, and ongoing support to help individuals develop their clinical skills and career.
Based in a well-equipped and forward-thinking practice, the facilities include an in-house laboratory, digital x-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, laser therapy, inpatient hospitalisation facilities, a mobile vet and nurse clinic, and a dedicated quiet room. The practice is also an RCVS-accredited GP practice and holds Gold Award status as an ISFM Cat Friendly Clinic. Recognition as a small to medium business of the year and a highly rated employer reflects the strong workplace culture and commitment to excellence.
The nursing team works alongside six vets, seven RVNs, three student veterinary nurses, three veterinary care assistants, and an experienced administration team, creating a collaborative environment where a wide range of skills and interests come together to provide exceptional care for patients and clients.
Ideally located between Durham and Newcastle, the practice offers easy access to both vibrant city life and beautiful outdoor surroundings, including the Lake District and Northumberland coastline. With no Sunday or Bank Holiday working, there is plenty of opportunity to enjoy the local area and maintain a positive work-life balance.
The role comes with an extensive benefits package, including six weeks’ paid holiday including bank holidays, a CPD allowance, professional memberships and VDS cover, enhanced family leave policies, discounted veterinary fees, health and wellbeing support, shopping and travel discounts, cycle-to-work schemes, company sick pay, regular salary reviews, and clear opportunities for career progression.
