An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join a friendly and highly skilled team in a Dorset 24 hour Hospital, a recently refurbished, multi-disciplinary veterinary hospital located just a short drive from Dorset's stunning Jurassic Coast. The practice offers the ideal balance of a busy hospital environment with the lifestyle benefits of the surrounding countryside and coastline.
The hospital is equipped with modern facilities, including CT, digital radiography, ultrasound, dental radiography, endoscopy, laparoscopic surgery, two dedicated surgical theatres, an in-house laboratory, hydrotherapy, physiotherapy support, isolation facilities, separate dog and cat wards with ISFM Silver Cat Friendly status, and 24-hour inpatient care provided by an ECC-certified night veterinary surgeon and experienced nursing team. They serve as a key regional hospital, providing out-of-hours care for 12 branches and practices. This varied caseload offers exposure to both first opinion and more advanced referral-level work, supported by an experienced team that includes certificate holders in cardiology, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, dermatology, and emergency and critical care. The collaborative environment provides excellent opportunities for professional development while delivering outstanding patient and client care.
This position is well suited to a confident Veterinary Surgeon with a solid foundation in first opinion practice, strong surgical skills, and a desire to continue developing clinically. The role combines routine consultations, medical and surgical case management, inpatient care, and the opportunity to work alongside experienced colleagues on more complex cases within a supportive hospital setting.
Applicants should have a couple or years veterinary experience and demonstrate a commitment to delivering exceptional client service alongside high standards of clinical care. Strong communication skills, a team-focused approach, and enthusiasm for providing comprehensive patient care are essential.
The role is available on a full-time basis, with part-time applications also welcomed. The full-time position averages 39 hours per week and includes a shared 1 in 6 weekend rota, reflecting the practice's commitment to maintaining a fair and balanced workload across the team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Veterinary Surgeon looking to join a progressive hospital that combines a diverse caseload, excellent facilities, and a supportive team with an exceptional quality of life on the Dorset coast.
