Our is a rural small animal practice, first set up in the mid-1980s and a firmly established part of the two villages near Bury St Edmunds.

Due to housing expansion and changes in local competitors they have seen a huge increase in client numbers and need to expand the vet staff to meet the demand. The clinic is situated between Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket with easy access to the A14. They have the usual range of equipment, Ultrasound, digital x-ray, in house bloods etc. They do try to provide any other equipment Vets feel they need.

There is a mixture of experienced and younger vets. Currently they have 4.5 FTE with one returning from maternity leave at the end of the year and a new graduate joining in September. There is a range of skills, experience and interests within the team and they try to encourage people to follow what they enjoy and are passionate about as much as possible. The nurse team has grown and they have 6 Registered Veterinary Nurses and 2 Student Veterinary Nurses. The support staff is made up of 6 very experienced members of staff who hold the team together.  They have some visiting specialists, orthopaedic surgeon and ultrasound. They are currently working on a wellbeing project within the practice, to improve their environmental impact. They would consider a consulting only Vet if this was desired but would equally like someone with orthopaedic experience. The role would be split over both sites which are close to each other.

The client is looking to fill 40 hours, but this could be a mixture of part-time or full-time hours as they understand the pressures of family life and personal time. This will include a 1 in 6 Saturday split over both sites. There are no out of hours.
