Our clients practice is home to a team of 4 experienced RVNs (including a Deputy Head Nurse) and a new VCA who provides support to a 5 strong vet team. Based near Glastonbury they are now looking for a Full or Part Time Hear RVN to lead the nursing team.

The practice sits at the heart of the local community and has provided veterinary care for over 100 years. The practice has a strong ethos around maintaining a healthy work/life balance and supporting each other’s wellbeing. They do not operate an out-of-hours rota however on rare occasions, inpatient care may be required during the week for hospitalised patients. They have an open culture built on respect and accountability and a supportive and accessible leadership structure.

Leading a team is about appreciating individuals and bringing them together to create a functioning team capable of achieving set objectives. Working alongside the other Team Leaders, you will become pivotal in the two-way communication between clinical and practice directors and your team on the ground and will be working to create and maintain an environment in which it is possible to be the best nurse you can be. You will be an experienced, qualified RVN who has worked in busy practice.

The client is looking for a Head Nurse to manage the daily operational organisation of the small animal clinical team to ensure excellent teamwork and the highest level of clinical care. Your duties are broadly but not restricted to:
• Continuing to set a clear standard of professional conduct at all times, treating colleagues and customers with courtesy and respect
• Maintaining a weekly nurse and vet rota for day shifts and inpatient out-of-hours cover
• Responsibility for HR tasks such as timesheet administration, return to work discussions and individual performance reviews.
• Working with other teams to set out the business plan to meet practice performance metrics.
• Encouraging and supporting CPD amongst the nursing team. Being responsible for the training and development of the nursing team
• Implement and ensure compliance with the Royal College Practice Standards Scheme of core and general practice

Ideally this is a full-time shift pattern, however, they can offer flexible working patterns for the right candidate. You will work 40 hours across 5 days between 8 am – 7 pm, including 1:5 Saturday mornings, inpatient care out-of-hours only.
