Veterinary Surgeon — East Devon
Salary: £45,000–£65,000 depending on experience
My client is seeking a veterinary surgeon to join its genuinely independent, family- and vet-owned small animal practice in beautiful East Devon. With two RCVS Practice Standards Scheme GP-accredited branches, the practice is proud to deliver high-quality first-opinion care in a friendly, supportive, and exceptionally well-equipped environment.
The team is open to both full-time and part-time applicants, with flexibility built around finding the right person. Most of the veterinary team currently work part-time, reflecting the practice’s commitment to creating sustainable and enjoyable careers. Standard consultations are 20 minutes long, allowing clinicians the time to work up cases thoroughly, build strong client relationships, and practise to a high standard without compromise.
Work-life balance is central to the practice ethos. There are no out-of-hours nights, and weekend commitments are limited to a 1:4 Saturday morning consulting rota, helping team members maintain time outside of work.
Successful applicants would join an experienced and highly supportive clinical team, including a vet who holds a medical certificate and a medicine diploma holder and European Specialist. The practice is supported by an experienced management team, including Practice Manager and an outstanding RVN team and friendly, capable reception staff.
They are equipped with excellent clinical facilities across both sites, including digital X-ray, Doppler ultrasound, and digital tonometry. With one branch also offering keyhole surgery facilities, with clean, modern clinical spaces designed to support excellent patient care.
The role offers a salary of £45,000–£65,000 depending on experience, alongside a £1,500 pro-rata CPD budget that can contribute towards travel and accommodation. Additional benefits include cost-price pet care, paid VDS and RCVS membership, and a professional membership of choice, such as BSAVA.
Located near the East Devon coastline within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the practice is around 25 minutes from Exeter Airport and the M5, and within easy reach of Dartmoor. Over the past 12 years, they have a built a loyal client base, strong clinical reputation, and a supportive culture centred on looking after both patients and colleagues.
