Part-Time Veterinary Surgeon – Penzance
An exciting opportunity has become available for a part-time Veterinary Surgeon to join a welcoming and supportive team, in a well-established small animal clinic located just minutes from the seafront in the vibrant coastal town of Penzance.
This RCVS-accredited GP practice is known for delivering high-quality patient care within a friendly and collaborative environment. The successful candidate will join an experienced team comprising veterinary surgeons, Registered Veterinary Nurses, a Student Veterinary Nurse, and a dedicated reception and administrative team, all committed to providing exceptional care to both patients and clients.
The practice has built a loyal and proactive client base by treating every patient as if they were their own. With 15-minute consultations and well-managed appointment diaries, clinicians are given the time and flexibility to investigate cases thoroughly and work them up to a high clinical standard. They are also proud of its environmental commitment, having become the first veterinary practice to achieve “plastic-free” status through Surfers Against Sewage.
The role offers a varied caseload, combining consulting and surgical duties within a well-equipped small animal practice. Working hours range from 20–30 hours per week, with flexibility available for the right candidate, alongside participation in a shared Saturday morning rota. Importantly, there are no out-of-hours commitments, supporting a healthy work-life balance.
The team places genuine importance on creating a positive working culture, with colleagues regularly enjoying social activities together outside of work — from informal gatherings to sea swims along the Cornish coast.
The salary for this role ranges from £30,000 to £45,000 per annum (pro rata), dependent on experience.
Benefits include:
The successful candidate will receive a comprehensive benefits package including 6.6 weeks paid holiday inclusive of bank holidays (pro rata), a £1,750 CPD allowance, paid professional memberships, VDS cover, and ongoing CPD and training support.
Additional benefits include wellbeing support, enhanced family leave policies, discounted veterinary fees, company sick pay, employee discounts and cashback schemes, annual salary reviews, career development opportunities, and a strong focus on colleague wellbeing.
