An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, professional, and enthusiastic Veterinary Nurse to join this welcoming and highly experienced and lovely team in Chester. The position is available on either a full-time or part-time basis and offers a competitive salary from £30,000 FTE, dependent on experience.
This is an exciting time to join the practice as it continues to invest in innovative technology, including new AI systems designed to enhance patient care and team efficiency. The role offers flexibility, with a rota and working pattern tailored where possible to suit individual needs. There are no out-of-hours requirements, and the current weekend commitment is one in two Saturday mornings, with plans to reduce this to one in three from 2026.
The successful candidate will benefit from a generous package including fully funded CPD, paid professional memberships such as RCVS and BVA, contributory pension scheme, and access to exclusive discounts and benefits.
Based in the historic city of Chester, the practice enjoys an ideal location that combines the vibrancy of city life with surrounding countryside. Famous for its Roman heritage and unique shopping streets, Chester also offers excellent transport links and is within easy reach of both Liverpool and Manchester. The practice itself is conveniently situated just north of the city centre.
The team is made up of seven vets, five RVNs, two SVNs, and three receptionists, all supported by an experienced practice manager. With a broad range of clinical interests across the team, this role offers an excellent opportunity to develop professionally and gain valuable experience across a varied caseload, including a high number of insured pets and engaged clients.
Team culture is an important part of life at the practice. Colleagues regularly enjoy social activities together, from charity and sporting events to dog walks, escape rooms, and informal get-togethers, creating a genuinely supportive and close-knit environment.
The ideal candidate will thrive in a proactive and progressive setting, delivering exceptional first-opinion care and building strong relationships with both patients and clients. Confidence, enthusiasm, and an appreciation of the client-nurse bond are key qualities, alongside a genuine commitment to treating every pet with the same care and compassion expected for their own.
The role itself has been designed with both the individual and the practice in mind, offering flexibility around weekly hours and guaranteed protected lunch breaks. A carefully managed diary ensures dedicated time is allocated to daily tasks, helping maintain a calm and organised working environment while supporting a healthy work-life balance and on-time finishes.
Veterinary Nurses within the practice are encouraged to develop areas of personal interest, with opportunities to undertake nurse consults, inpatient care, and theatre duties, including anaesthetic monitoring and surgical assistance. Supported by Partners who place staff wellbeing at the forefront, the successful candidate will join a team known locally for its excellent reputation, professionalism, and strong sense of camaraderie. The practice looks forward to welcoming a new team member who will contribute to its continued success and positive ethos.
