This fantastic team are based in Doncaster and are looking for an experienced veterinary surgeon to join them, ideally for a four-day week, with part-time applicants also considered. There are no out-of-hours or bank holiday commitments, and Saturday mornings are worked on an approximate 1 in 8 rota with time off in lieu during the week.
They are a friendly and supportive team of eight vets with a wide range of interests, including medicine, surgery and diagnostic imaging, and are proud to have certificate holders in these areas. There is always someone available to offer support and encourage your professional development. They are seeking a vet who has completed their VetGDP and is confident performing routine surgeries.
The practice operates across two sites, one of which is a hospital, alongside a branch surgery that they have recently moved into following a full refurbishment. The out-of-hours, weekend and bank holiday care is managed by an out of hours provider, who attend the main hospital site overnight. This means inpatients can remain in one place and continue to be cared for by a dedicated overnight team.
The role is highly flexible and can be tailored to your individual strengths and interests. They perform a wide range of surgical procedures, including cruciate and patella surgery, laparoscopic procedures and BOAS surgery, making this an excellent opportunity for someone keen to further develop their surgical skills. For those with a passion for medicine, They are well equipped with a broad range of diagnostic tools such as Imagyst, ultrasound, dental radiography, endoscopy and i-STAT, allowing them to work up the vast majority of cases in house. Dedicated hospital shifts involve a mix of inpatient care and emergency cases, alongside regular consulting and operating days. If you enjoy variety, that is equally welcome, as the rota is designed around what each individual enjoys doing most.
The salary is up to £80,000 depending on experience, with the potential for a higher salary for those with additional certificates or advanced experience. Well-behaved pets are also very welcome to accompany you to work.
Additional benefits, offered on a pro rata basis, include a four-day week for full-time vets, paid RCVS and VDS fees plus one additional membership, funded and encouraged CPD including certificates, five weeks’ holiday with no bank holidays to work and the option to buy or sell leave, enhanced sickness and family-related leave benefits, a Healthshield cash plan and a cycle to work scheme.
