My lovely client in Dundee is offering an excellent opportunity for a full-time Equine and Farm Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join its dedicated team, a location known for its striking landscapes and high quality of life. This role is well suited to someone looking to advance their career within a supportive environment that values both clinical standards and work-life balance.
The position involves working across a varied caseload that includes equine, farm, and smallholder patients throughout the Tayside, Angus, and Fife regions. The successful candidate will become part of an experienced equine and farm animal team within a well-established, multi-branch mixed practice. Support is readily available for both experienced veterinary surgeons and those who crave development. The rota is designed to be fair and manageable, incorporating structured time off following on-call duties, including protected rest after night work, a weekly half-day, and scheduled time off after weekend cover. Additional support systems, such as an out-of-hours phone service and a lone worker safety scheme, are also in place.
This practice is recognised for its progressive approach and well-equipped facilities. These include in-house equine stabling and stocks at two sites, a fully equipped laboratory, and a range of advanced diagnostic tools such as mobile digital X-ray, ultrasound equipment for equine work, respiratory endoscopy, and fertility testing kits. The practice also benefits from regular visits by specialists, allowing for a high level of care while minimising the need for external referrals.
The role comes with a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package. This includes 32 days of annual leave plus an additional day off for the employee’s birthday, as well as a generous continuing professional development allowance with funding and encouragement for further qualifications. The practice fosters a strong team culture, with regular meetings, protected lunch breaks, and a clear emphasis on maintaining a healthy balance between professional and personal life.
Dundee itself offers a vibrant mix of coastal living, cultural attractions, and convenient transport links, alongside a relatively affordable cost of living. The surrounding area provides easy access to a wide range of outdoor activities, from hiking and skiing in the Cairngorms to exploring the scenic Angus Glens and Perthshire countryside. Beautiful east coast beaches and nearby cities such as Edinburgh and Aberdeen further enhance the lifestyle opportunities available, making this an appealing location for both work and leisure.
