Daytime ECC vet role
This 24 hour small animal hospital is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Surgeon to join the experienced and supportive team in Shrewsbury. This role is ideal for a clinician with a passion for Emergency and Critical Care who enjoys the challenge and variety of hospital-based medicine while preferring daytime working hours.
The successful candidate will take a leading role in the management of inpatients and emergency cases presenting through the hospital's A&E service. The position offers a stimulating and medically focused caseload, with responsibility for ensuring the highest standards of care for hospitalised patients. This may involve performing emergency procedures directly or coordinating treatment plans alongside a skilled multidisciplinary team of veterinary professionals.
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and committed to continually developing their clinical and technical expertise. Confidence in managing complex medical cases is essential, alongside a practical level of surgical experience. Just as important is the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, working closely with colleagues to deliver exceptional patient outcomes. Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach are key, particularly when supporting clients through stressful and emotional situations. While a Certificate in Emergency and Critical Care would be advantageous, it is not essential.
The successful applicant will share the organisation's commitment to providing accessible, high-quality veterinary care. The position is based on an average of 40 hours per week, with flexibility to choose between a 4-on/4-off rota pattern or three shifts per week with participation in a 2-in-9 weekend rota. Shifts run from 7:00am to 8:00pm and include a one-hour unpaid lunch break.
