Night Veterinary Surgeon – Out-of-Hours Opportunity
This Gloucestershire practice is seeking an experienced and motivated Night Veterinary Surgeon to join its progressive and dedicated out-of-hours team. Situated on the edge of the stunning Cotswolds, the practice benefits from excellent motorway connections to the South West, London, and the North, making it an accessible and attractive location.
As a large RCVS-accredited Small Animal Hospital and Emergency Services Clinic, the practice operates from a recently refurbished main hospital equipped with advanced facilities and technology. The hospital includes four operating theatres, CT imaging, laparoscopic equipment, rigid and flexible endoscopy, and state-of-the-art ultrasound, creating an excellent environment for delivering high-quality emergency and critical care.
The successful candidate will be exposed to a varied and challenging caseload, supporting both the practice’s own clients and numerous external practices across the county. Working closely with a dedicated team of night nurses, the Night Vet will also receive support from a highly experienced daytime team of 20 small animal vets, including multiple certificate holders across a range of disciplines.
This role would suit a confident clinician with strong emergency medical and surgical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a collaborative, team-focused approach. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing emergency cases thoroughly and independently while maintaining high standards of client care.
The rota follows a consistent pattern of seven consecutive nights followed by 14 days off, running Monday to Sunday, with annual leave taken during non-working periods, providing an excellent work-life balance.
The position offers a competitive salary of up to £72,500 pro rata, depending on experience and qualifications, alongside a generous benefits package. This includes over six weeks of annual leave, a CPD allowance with ongoing training support, paid professional memberships, health and wellbeing support, enhanced family leave, discounted veterinary care for companion animals, company sick pay, annual salary reviews, and opportunities for career progression.
The practice also places great emphasis on team culture and wellbeing, hosting regular social events throughout the year including summer gatherings, festive celebrations, and a variety of informal activities ranging from bowling and pottery painting to golf driving range visits and themed food events. Local accommodation can also be offered for those requiring support with relocation or commuting.
