This role is ideally suited to a Veterinary Surgeon with a strong interest in Emergency and Critical Care who prefers to work daytime hours. Based at a newly developed hospital in Warrington, the position focuses on overseeing inpatient care while managing emergency cases presenting through the A&E service.
The successful candidate will handle a varied and engaging caseload with a strong emphasis on medicine, alongside opportunities to perform both emergency procedures and surgical interventions. A key aspect of the role involves ensuring continuity of care for inpatients while confidently managing same-day emergency presentations. The position requires a balance of clinical expertise and responsiveness, with patient care remaining the central priority throughout the day.
The Warrington hospital represents a significant addition to a growing veterinary group, offering a purpose-built 24/7 facility designed to support first opinion, referral, and out-of-hours services. The hospital has been carefully designed to provide an excellent clinical environment, featuring multiple consultation rooms, dedicated wards for dogs and cats, isolation facilities, several operating theatres, and advanced diagnostic and dental suites. Alongside its clinical capabilities, the site also includes modern, spacious staff areas to promote a supportive and comfortable working environment.
This opportunity would suit a highly motivated clinician who is confident managing complex medical cases and has some surgical experience. The role requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting and communicates with empathy and clarity, particularly when supporting clients during challenging situations. A certificate in Emergency and Critical Care would be advantageous, though not essential.
Flexible working arrangements are available, with both full-time and part-time applications considered, typically ranging between 36 and 40 hours per week. Shifts generally run from 7:00am to 7:00pm, with rota options designed to accommodate both the needs of the hospital and individual preferences where possible.
The position is complemented by a comprehensive benefits package that supports both professional development and personal wellbeing. This includes six weeks of annual leave inclusive of bank holidays, funded continuing professional development, and support for visa applications if required. Additional benefits include private healthcare, an enhanced family leave package, contributory pension scheme, and payment of professional fees such as RCVS and VDS. Employees also have access to counselling services covering mental health, financial, and personal support after a qualifying period, as well as schemes such as cycle to work, electric car leasing, employee discounts, and a refer-a-friend bonus.
