My client is seeking an experienced, MRCVS-registered Equine and Farm Clinical Director to lead its established team across Dundee, Tayside, Angus and Fife. This position offers a unique combination of clinical work and strategic oversight, allowing the successful candidate to remain hands-on while influencing the direction and future development of the equine and farm services.
Supported by a strong and experienced practice structure, the role also provides the freedom to implement new ideas and lead with confidence. The opportunity is ideally suited to a veterinary professional with a strong interest in equine and farm animal medicine who is ready to progress into a senior leadership role. It is designed for someone who values autonomy, thrives with responsibility, and is motivated by the chance to shape and develop a successful department while continuing to grow professionally. Support is available to help you to transition into this role if required
In this role, the Clinical Director would take responsibility for guiding and mentoring a small team of equine and farm veterinarians, while maintaining high clinical standards and driving the continued growth of the department. Close collaboration with the small animal clinical directors and the practice manager forms an important part of the wider leadership structure, helping to ensure a cohesive and forward-thinking approach across the practice. The position encourages innovation and provides the scope to expand and enhance the services offered.
The practice is known for its supportive and progressive working environment, where teamwork and wellbeing are prioritised alongside clinical excellence. The working pattern is structured to promote a healthy balance between professional and personal life, with a shared on-call rota, protected time off following overnight duties, regular half-days, and scheduled time off after weekend commitments.
The practice is well equipped, offering facilities such as equine stabling and stocks across two sites, an in-house laboratory, and a range of modern diagnostic tools including mobile digital radiography, equine ultrasound, and respiratory endoscopy. Access to visiting specialists further enhances the level of care provided and reduces the need for external referrals.
A competitive salary is offered, ranging from £62,500 to £75,000 depending on experience, alongside a comprehensive benefits package. This includes a practice vehicle if required, paid professional fees and memberships, and access to a range of discounts and wellbeing benefits. Generous annual leave is provided, along with additional time off for birthdays and flexibility where possible. Professional development is strongly encouraged through a dedicated CPD allowance, funded training opportunities, and a structured leadership development pathway.
The role is based in Dundee, a vibrant coastal city offering a blend of cultural attractions, affordability, and excellent transport connections. The surrounding Tayside region provides access to a wide variety of outdoor activities, from beaches and countryside to mountains and historic towns, making it an appealing location for both work and leisure.
