My client in St Helens is seeking an enthusiastic Registered Veterinary Nurse to join its dedicated and supportive hospital team in a varied and rewarding role. As a busy, RCVS-accredited first opinion and referral practice, the hospital is home to a large team of veterinary professionals and is supported by nine branch practices in the surrounding area. The nursing team includes Animal Care Assistants (ACAs), Student Veterinary Nurses (SVNs), Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs), and Diploma-holding RVNs, all working collaboratively to deliver exceptional patient care.
The successful candidate will rotate through various departments within the hospital, including wards, theatre (covering both referral and first opinion cases), dermatology, medicine, dispensary, and nurse clinics. This role offers exposure to a diverse caseload and the opportunity to provide high standards of nursing care across a wide range of disciplines.
The rota includes alternating shifts of 7:00am–3:00pm and 10:30am–6:30pm, with a late shift pattern of 2:00pm–10:00pm approximately every eight weeks. Weekend commitments are on a 1 in 5 basis, working either a Saturday or Sunday, with no out-of-hours responsibilities required. Additional paid shifts are available through the dedicated out-of-hours team. Bank holiday cover is minimal, averaging one per year, with double pay and a day off in lieu provided.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering outstanding care to both patients and clients and will enjoy the variety that veterinary nursing offers, including patient care, nurse consultations, laboratory work, and surgical nursing.
Based in St Helens, the practice benefits from a welcoming community atmosphere and excellent transport connections, with both Liverpool and Manchester airports within easy reach. The area also offers affordable living, green spaces, and convenient access to destinations such as the Lake District, North Wales, and the coast.
They offer a comprehensive benefits package, including generous annual leave, CPD funding and training support, paid professional memberships, enhanced family leave, health and wellbeing support, discounted veterinary treatment, company sick pay, wellbeing initiatives, and opportunities for career progression. Salary is dependent on experience.
