A friendly and supportive practice in the vibrant seaside town of Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon to join the team on a fixed-term contract of up to 12 months. This full-time opportunity is ideal for a vet looking to further develop their clinical skills within a busy and well-equipped environment, supported by an experienced and welcoming team.
The role offers a four-day working week with fixed days off to encourage a healthy work-life balance. Weekend commitments include one in three Saturdays, alongside participation in a shared out-of-hours and Bank Holiday rota through the local 24-hour hospital. The out-of-hours commitment is minimal and well-supported, allowing the successful candidate to gain valuable experience while maintaining balance outside of work.
Working within a busy practice, the Veterinary Surgeon will benefit from a varied caseload, providing excellent exposure to a wide range of cases and opportunities to build confidence and clinical capability. The successful candidate will be supported by two experienced Veterinary Surgeons who are keen to mentor and encourage development, alongside a skilled team of five Registered Veterinary Nurses and five Client Care Assistants.
The clinic itself is well-equipped and offers an engaging caseload, making it an excellent environment for a vet eager to expand their knowledge and experience in a collaborative setting. This position would particularly suit someone passionate about delivering high standards of patient care and looking to continue building their experience in a welcoming and progressive practice.

Applicants should have a minimum of 12 months’ UK veterinary experience.
The role also comes with a comprehensive benefits package, including Private Medical Insurance and a Health Cash Plan, 24/7 wellbeing and counselling support, and life assurance at three times salary. Annual leave begins at five weeks plus Bank Holidays, increasing with service,.
Professional development is encouraged through a £1,500 CPD allowance and three days of paid CPD leave annually, access to clinical communities and internal CPD, funded certificates, and clear internal career progression opportunities. RCVS, VDS, and BVA fees are fully covered, with relocation support and visa sponsorship also available for eligible candidates.
