We have been placing exceptional veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses in great roles around the United Kingdom, Dubai and Australia since 2010. Our team of expert recruiters have over two decades of experience in the veterinary recruitment industry.
Our client is based on the coast near Hastings and is looking for an experienced and competent small animal vet to join their friendly and supportive team.
The practice is located in a seaside town, which has various attractions and the all-important seafront promenade, complete with many restaurants and great views. The practice is near the sea, with Hastings and St Leonards-on-Sea being joined by a 7km seafront promenade, ideal for early morning runs, evening strolls or weekend cycling. There are plenty of outdoor activities, including hiking, sailing clubs, kayaking clubs and other outdoor activities, groups and individuals.
The surgery has digital x-ray, ultrasound and in-house laboratory equipment as well as a dedicated surgical room, separate kennels, cattery and upstairs staff room. The team consists of 11 staff members, comprising of 2 vets, 4 RVN's, 1 SVN and 4 support staff, several having been here for many years and the PM having been here since the practice opened in 2009. The team even had staff that have left and come back. The clinical director has a cardiology certificate and takes referral cases from the local area and charities.
The role is full time, preferably with a few years’ experience to support the clinical director and junior vet. They have a varied workload and a loyal client base. The ideal candidate must have experience in all aspects of routine first opinion practice, and any areas of interest will be supported and encouraged. Currently the vets work 4 days a week and 1 Saturday morning in 3, and there is no on-call or out-of-hours as the practice has a dedicated night clinic nearby. The role also has the potential for career progression to become the Clinical Director.
You must be comfortable with routine surgeries and dentistry. The practice would welcome anyone undertaking or wishing to undertake certificate studies, particularly orthopaedic as the practice has a large range of equipment to support this. A good sense of humour and willingness to become part of a team is essential, as is the ability to engage with a client base that has a lot of interesting characters. The client needs someone who is willing to muck in with everyone, be a team player but also keen to potentially take on a more leadership style role as they move forwards. A good, all-round vet who values each member of the team for the importance their role plays within our business.
